Central to their objections are over 30 new commission caps across product lines and distribution methods, alongside a proposed one-third cut in insurers’ total expense budgets.

Both the BSE and NSE have also flagged the stock under short-term Additional Surveillance Measures (ASM) to highlight unusual volatility.

Regulatory scrutiny impacts share price

The decline follows the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) publishing a draft paper on commission adjustments, management expenses, and distribution reforms. These potential changes could reshape how commissions are structured for insurance distributors.

The Insurance Brokers Association of India (IBAI) has expressed alarm over the proposed rules, arguing that stricter commission limits and reduced expense allowances may harm policyholders, job security, and overall insurance expansion. Central to their objections are over 30 new commission caps across product lines and distribution methods, alongside a proposed one-third cut in insurers’ total expense budgets. The association argues these measures could penalize customers who rely on brokers for policy comparisons, coverage negotiations, and claims support.

In response to investor concerns, PB Fintech released a statement addressing the market reaction. The firm emphasized it is evaluating the potential effects while maintaining an open dialogue with IRDAI, noting it will submit formal feedback during the designated consultation period.

Analyst Kranthi Bathini from WealthMills Securities warned that the proposed IRDAI commission rules could pose challenges for firms like PB Fintech. He advised short-to-medium-term investors to consider exiting positions on any upward moves. Meanwhile, Ravi Singh, Chief Research Officer at Master Capital Services, observed that technical indicators suggest the stock remains under pressure.
