Citizens, families, and organized groups in Nicosia will join forces for men’s health on Sunday, November 8, at the second “RoboMarkets Blue Route.” The gathering, organized by Europa Uomo Cyprus together with the Bank of Cyprus Oncology Centre, is designed to raise public awareness about prostate cancer and to stress the importance of early diagnosis.

Event Details

The program will unfold under the auspices of the President of the Republic of Cyprus. Awareness and information activities are scheduled to begin at 09:00 a.m., followed by a symbolic 2 km walk that commences at 10:00 a.m. The Bank of Cyprus Oncology Centre will serve as both the starting point and the finishing location, providing a central hub for participants and volunteers.

According to the General Manager of the Centre, Panos Ergatoudes, “At the Bank of Cyprus Oncology Centre, we witness daily how critical early diagnosis is, but also how much strength individuals battling cancer draw from the support of their loved ones. Through the 2nd Blue Route, we want to encourage men to stay informed, discuss with their doctor, and take care of their health.”

Objectives and Schedule

Andreas Moiseos, President of Europa Uomo Cyprus, highlighted the need for men to speak openly about health issues and to avoid ignoring preventive screenings. He noted that stigma often prevents timely medical visits, and that open conversation can save lives.

Stelios Kyriakou, Press and Public Relations Officer of Europa Uomo Cyprus, presented the objectives and schedule of this year’s organization, placing special emphasis on the open character of the event and community participation. “The Blue Route is a symbolic march of solidarity, reminding us that men’s health concerns society as a whole. We invite citizens and organized groups to join their steps with ours. Because every step counts. For every father, every partner, every brother, every friend. For every man we love.”

Dr. Dimitris Vomvas, Radiation Oncologist at the Bank of Cyprus Oncology Centre, addressed the significance of prompt detection and accurate information. He highlighted recent advances in imaging and biopsy techniques that have improved the ability to identify prostate cancer at an early stage. He stressed that men should stay informed, talk to their physician, and not neglect their health, because early intervention can dramatically improve treatment outcomes.

Activities and Support

The program will feature free PSA testing, live music, and a range of awareness activities. Medicover Laboratories will conduct the PSA tests at no cost. An information kiosk, operated by Europa Uomo Cyprus, will distribute brochures and answer questions about risk factors, lifestyle choices, and treatment options. A symbolic shaving ceremony will also be held, representing solidarity with those affected, while COFFEEHOUSE will supply hot coffee and snacks to keep walkers energized.

Musical entertainment will be provided by the Strovolos Municipality–European University Cyprus Symphonic Band, and the Pancyprian Gymnasium Philharmonic Band will set the pace along the route with uplifting tunes. The event is supported by longstanding major sponsor Allwyn, sponsors Garmin Cyprus, Columbus Travel, Novartis, Mundipharma, KMeaters Cycling Team, as well as the Municipality of Strovolos.
